Franchise Sales Done Right: Our Proven Process for Growth
Franchise Sales Done Right: Our Proven Process for Growth
Here at Franchise FastLane, our primary mission is to grow brands at the unit and multi-unit level, something we accomplish with our proven, process-driven approach. Our process-driven approach can be broken down into specific steps, each designed to ensure we follow an established blueprint for success on behalf of the 20+ high-performing brands in our exclusive portfolio.
Each step in the sales and discovery process is meticulously tracked in our innovative Frick and FastLane portal, our highly interactive online dashboard that provides consultants (some 1,000+ now registered and climbing) with real-time data and up-to-date activities covering all stages of the franchise sales process. FastLane recently added a proprietary mapping tool, so our valued consultant partners can check in on the pending and completed sales for individual franchise brands in their own specific territories. In this blog post, we’ll take you through the individual stages of our franchise sales process, so you can see for yourself what success looks like for some of the top emerging brands in the marketplace. We know that every franchisor comes to FastLane with their own unique challenges. Here’s how we address them to promote responsible growth…
How it All Begins…
Each year, Franchise FastLane reviews and evaluates hundreds of new and emerging concepts, the goal of which is to find what we like to refer to internally as the “Next Big Thing.” And thanks to our rigorous vetting process, this happens early and often. Here are the data-driven factors we consider when evaluating new and emerging franchise concepts:
- Franchisor potential
- Value proposition
- Key differentiators
- Current marketplace conditions
- Unit economics
Though Franchise FastLane does evaluate hundreds of brands each year, only a very small number of concepts are selected to become part of what we like to call the “Chosen Few.”
FastLane’s Proprietary Discovery Process
At Franchise FastLane, we truly believe in quality over quantity – especially when it comes to selecting the right candidates to participate in the discovery process. This highly regimented process typically runs anywhere from six to eight weeks, following this strict timeline:
- Week 1 – introductory call where candidates can ask questions while the director of franchise development for the brand establishes a rapport to understand their motivation, goals, and lifestyle
- Week 2 – involves a discussion about the unit economics of the franchisor, including but not limited to Items 5, 7, and 19. Funding options are discussed, as well as the brand's support systems
- Week 3 – is set aside to formally review the brand’s franchise disclosure document (FDD), where we provide an accurate snapshot of the financial and legal disclosures, as well as the defined role of franchisor and franchisee alike
- Week 4 - During this subsequent call, the director of franchise development at FastLane provides the candidate with an analysis of available territories and boundary lines, drawn according to the franchise agreement
- Week 5 – Confirmation Day approaches! During Confirmation Day, the candidate meets the franchisor and its corporate team for a two-way interview to determine if they're a good fit for one another. Once this session concludes, it’s decision time
- Week 6 – FastLane delivers the franchise agreement for the official signing, followed by the transfer of all fees
- Week 7 - In the final candidate call, we celebrate the signing of the franchise agreement with the Franchisor. This is the final step in the candidate’s discovery process, but only the beginning of an amazing entrepreneurial journey for the franchisee
Experienced franchise sales organizations (FSOs) like Franchise FastLane understand the value of implementing proven processes to foster explosive but responsible growth. And we never stop looking for ways to add value to our emerging brand partners, such as our CarPool program and MasterMind 2.0 sessions. As turnkey partners, we’re responsible for every aspect of the sales process, as well as following through. Awarding operational units and getting them launched and running is where the real work truly begins.
