At Franchise FastLane, we’re so excited that Spring is finally here. The temps are rising, flowers are blooming, trees are leafing out, and – one other thing – backyard grills are firing up across the country. And that fact is music to the ears of one of our franchisors – Bar-B-Clean! This flaming-hot brand is an industry disruptor – a first-to-market service provider that offers mobile grill cleaning, service, parts, repairs, and even new grill sales and installations – all direct to both residential and commercial consumers.

In this month’s Franchise FastLane Brand Spotlight, we’re sharing all the details you need to know about this amazing franchise opportunity. Get ready because it’s Bar-B-Clean’s turn to be in the spotlight!

Value Proposition & Key Differentiators

Bar-B-Clean was born out of necessity back in 2012, when founder Bryan Weinstein was scouring the southern California area for a grill-cleaning service. When he was only able to locate a single service provider, he immediately set out to capitalize on this wide-open niche market. The main value proposition is fairly simple to grasp – Bar-B-Clean is a franchised business opportunity that has ZERO major competition. As an all-mobile operation with low overhead, there’s no need for a pricy commercial real estate storefront or multiple employees – most Bar-B-Clean franchisees are simply “cleaning up” as solopreneurs. And what exactly does the target market look like? The brand did their own research and discovered an untapped opportunity that’s almost too good to be true. Fact – some 86% of U.S. households own a backyard grill – and 99% were used within the last calendar year. But what many residential – and commercial – clients may not know, is that grills must have routine maintenance and cleaning every six months to operate in peak condition. Without it, grill users can be exposed to harmful cancer-causing carcinogens and other unsanitary hazards. Bar-B-Clean has been franchising the concept since 2014 and joined the FastLane in 2023. They immediately doubled their territories from 22 to 50 units in hot spots from California to Florida and Texas to Colorado.

Hear from a Successful Bar-B-Clean Franchise Owner

Brent Seebohm is a successful Bar-B-Clean franchise owner, whose territory covers Nashville, Tenn. He’s certainly no stranger to the entrepreneurial life, as he has owned three other franchise operations, and this is his eighth year as a franchisee. A savvy businessman, Seebohm knows a good deal when he sees it – and immediately recognized the potential of the Bar-B-Clean business model. “It is simple, very unique, scalable with great margins and has a superb founder in Bryan Weinstein,” he shares. He goes on to say that his Bar-B-Clean operation was profitable in the first month and expects steady growth from this point on. “Nashville is a booming home services market,” he adds. “We’re going to be more intentional in going after commercial-based clients like condo and apartment complexes.”

What Franchise FastLane Has to Say…

Franchise FastLane’s Aaron Geary serves as the Director of Franchise Development for Bar-B-Clean. What does he think makes the brand’s franchise opportunity so special? “Bar-B-Clean stands out with its simple, low-overhead business model requiring minimal staff, which simplifies operations. Bar-B-Clean also emphasizes work-life balance, offering a schedule that is primarily weekdays, with nights and weekends off. This scheduling is especially appealing to those who value their personal time and seek to maintain a healthy balance between their professional and private lives. Finally, as a first-to-market home service franchise in a growing sector with little competition, Bar-B-Clean offers a unique and appealing opportunity for entrepreneurs seeking to enter the home service industry.”

This is a brand that’s clearly on a roll, but what does the future have in store for Bar-B-Clean’s franchising program?

Geary continues, “In 2024, Bar-B-Clean is committed to growth that is both responsible and sustainable. Our strategy includes welcoming passionate franchise owners who align with our goals and vision. At the same time, we're enhancing our internal support and resources to ensure our franchise partners receive the best possible experience. Recently, we've bolstered our leadership by appointing a Chief Marketing Officer. This addition is aimed at providing our franchisees with new marketing tools and partnerships to help expand their businesses. Along with strengthening our leadership team, we have forged new alliances with dealers, manufacturers, and referral partners. These steps are designed to enhance the opportunities our franchisees have with both B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) customers.”
